USA Defeats France to Win the FIBA Women's World Cup
Defeating France in the final of the tournament held in Berlin, Germany, the USA claimed the top spot for the fifth consecutive time.
Defeating France 97-79 in the final of the FIBA 2026 Women's Basketball World Cup, the USA reached its 12th championship in the tournament. France finished the organization as the runner-up.
An Exciting Final
France and the USA battled for the championship in the final match of the tournament held in Germany's capital, Berlin. Finishing the first period ahead 20-17, France extended the lead up to 14 points in the second quarter, but the USA closed the gap as they entered halftime.
Dominance in the Second Half
Taking control of the game in the third period, the USA widened the lead with consecutive baskets and entered the final quarter ahead 73-57. Increasing the lead to 27 points in the final period, the USA left the court victorious.
Trophy Ceremony and Medals
In the ceremony held after the final match, the French team received the silver medals, while the USA players, who won the gold medals, experienced great joy. FIBA President Sheikh Saud Ali Al Thani presented the trophy to captain Breanna Stewart.

US player Breanna Stewart was named the most valuable player of the tournament. Stewart won this honor for the second time in her career, averaging 12.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 6 matches.
