Anthropic Applies for the Largest Initial Public Offering in History
Anthropic, a company operating in the field of artificial intelligence, has filed an official application for an initial public offering. Planned to take place in November, this step positions the company at the center of one of the world's largest IPOs.
Artificial intelligence giant Anthropic has filed its first official paperwork to offer shares to the public and is preparing to begin trading on Wall Street in November. This move by the company has the potential to surpass SpaceX's record $86 billion initial public offering in June.
Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI executives CEO Dario Amodei and President Daniela Amodei, the San Francisco-based company plans to be listed on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker symbol "ANT". According to the filing document, the company recorded rapid revenue growth exceeding $16 billion in the first half of the year, while posting a net loss of $80.7 billion, which included a $72.4 billion one-time accounting adjustment related to financing agreements.
As part of the IPO process, seven co-founders will hold 50.1% voting power through special share classes, and a Long-Term Benefit Trust consisting of independent members will be established to prioritize public safety over financial interests. Meanwhile, risk disclosures in the filing also included warnings that advanced artificial intelligence models could pose catastrophic or existential risks to humanity.
