New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced the launch of free associate degree programs for adults aged 25 to 55, aiming to help workers transition to more secure and high-demand sectors against the negative impacts of artificial intelligence on the job market.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced that free associate degree programs will be offered through community colleges for adults aged 25 to 55. This program, which individuals who already hold a university degree can also benefit from, aims to help individuals cope with the disruptive effects of artificial intelligence on the workforce and increase their competitiveness debt-free.

Unlike the former Reconnect program, the new initiative covers fields that are more resilient to artificial intelligence and have skilled workforce shortages, such as nursing, healthcare, and air traffic control. State Senator Jeremy J. Zellner stated that the program offers workers a real opportunity for better-paying jobs.
