The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has published its Fiscal Transparency Evaluation report examining Turkey's public financial management practices. According to the report, Turkey has made significant progress in fiscal statistics, budget management, and accountability over the past last decade.

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated that while Turkey was at a good or advanced level in approximately half of the Fiscal Transparency Code principles during the 2015 evaluation, it has increased this rate to two-thirds with current data. With this performance, Turkey ranked at the top of a group of about 40 countries, including the United Kingdom, Finland, Ireland, Austria, and Portugal.

The IMF report emphasized that the improvement of fiscal statistics, the transition to performance-based program budgeting, and the implementation of international public accounting standards played a decisive role in Turkey's success.
