Academic Year Beginning and Cooperation

The Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University officially started the 2026-2027 academic year with a ceremony held in Ankara. Nakasone Yasutaka, Special Representative of the Prime Minister of Japan, stated that they will continue to contribute to the development of the university.

Historical Foundations of the University

The foundations of the university were laid in 2013 with an agreement reached between then-Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe and then-Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The institution aims to strengthen scientific ties by accepting students who succeed in the YKS exam.

Earthquake Research Support Plan

Drawing attention to the fact that both countries carry earthquake risks, Nakasone emphasized that Japan is ready to share its experience in disaster management and preparedness with Turkey.

The Japanese government plans to make a special equipment grant to support earthquake research in Turkey. These supports are aimed to be continued as part of the scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries.
