Statement in Front of the Hospital
The Health and Social Service Workers' Union held a press conference in front of Bitlis Tatvan State Hospital regarding the reduction in the number of workers under the name of financial austerity.
Reduction in the Number of Workers
Speaking at the press conference, SES Bitlis Branch Co-President Muhammed Fatih Aydın reacted to the reduction of the number of workers under the guise of financial austerity, emphasizing that the price of austerity in healthcare cannot be patients' lives.
Overworked Order
It was stated that the closure of departments and the reduction of shifts carried out with nurses in clinics down to a single nurse were added to the forced overworked order maintained despite all previous warnings.
Risk to Patient Safety
Emphasizing that healthcare service is teamwork, it was stated that placing the entire responsibility on a single employee in a field where human life is at stake is unacceptable.
Workers Reaching the Point of Exhaustion
It was stated that healthcare workers have reached the point of physical and mental exhaustion due to increasing shift loads, heavy working conditions, and inadequate rest facilities.
Demands of the Union
The union demanded an end to the curtailment of healthcare services on the grounds of financial austerity, the implementation of safe personnel planning, and the reassessment of closed departments.
