At a conference held in Hanoi, Vietnam, on October 27, 2026, the impact of science, technology, and digital transformation on growth in the agricultural and environmental sectors was examined. Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung outlined six core tasks for ministries and local authorities in order to overcome the structural problems facing the sector.

According to data shared at the conference, the agricultural sector achieved a growth rate of 3.78% and export success of $70.63 billion in 2025. For the first nine months of 2026, a growth rate of 4.02% and an export volume of $56.3 billion are projected. Despite this, the sector struggles with five main bottlenecks, such as small-scale production, fragmented research activities, deficiencies in input technologies, and inadequate data infrastructure.

Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Van Long emphasized that 76% of the 451 scientific products in the agricultural field remained in the research stage, with a commercialization rate of only 24%. Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung requested the strengthening of ties between the state, scientists, and businesses to bridge this gap, the acceleration of digital transformation, and the finalization of the priority task list by December 15, 2026.
