The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that no new precautionary measure has been taken within the framework of capital markets investigations, and that the current procedures consist of transmitting previous decisions.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that no new precautionary measure was taken within the scope of investigations into capital market transactions, and that previously issued decisions were transmitted to the relevant institutions.
Investigation and Precautionary Decisions
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued a written statement regarding reports that restrictions were imposed on the financial transactions of certain suspects within the scope of investigations into capital market transactions. The Prosecutor's Office reported that no new precautionary decision has been taken as of today, and that previously issued decisions have been forwarded to the relevant institutions.
Social Media and Misunderstandings
In the statement made by the Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that reports were published on some social media platforms and digital media outlets claiming that new restrictions were brought on the financial transactions of a group of suspects. It was stated that this explanation was deemed necessary in order to prevent any misunderstandings that might arise in the public eye.
Requests from Institutions
It was conveyed that precautionary decisions regarding the assets of the suspects mentioned in the news reports had been taken previously and writs were sent to the relevant institutions. It was stated that the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey and the Capital Markets Association of Turkey requested that the previously taken decisions also be transmitted to them.
Distribution List and Inadvertent Error
Upon requests, it was noted that the relevant institutions were added to the distribution list and the decisions were sent. It was explained that the information regarding individuals whose restrictions under the investigation were lifted was inadvertently not delivered to the relevant institutions, and a new writ was issued after the situation was noticed.
Suspects Whose Precautions Continue
In the statement made by the Prosecutor's Office, it was emphasized that the precautions regarding 109 suspects on the current list, excluding those for whom a lifting decision was made, continue. It was reiterated that this situation consists of sending old decisions to the relevant institutions rather than taking a new decision.
