Stating that children encountering content not suitable for their age on social media negatively affects their academic and personal development, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin announced that the Ministry is preparing to file a lawsuit against Meta.

Answering journalists' questions upon his return from a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin stated that they have taken measures such as banning mobile phone use in schools and warning students about social media, but children continue to use social media outside of school.

Emphasizing that social media platforms must assume responsibility, Tekin responded to a reminder about families filing lawsuits against Meta by saying, "Yes, we are currently making such a preparation as well. We are also planning to file one."

Stating that they will initiate the process as the Ministry of National Education, Tekin noted that the primary authority regarding social media regulations rests with the Ministries of Trade, Industry, and Transport. Meanwhile, the regulation restricting social media for those under 15 in Turkey was published on October 10 and will enter into force on November 1, 2026.
