Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar will announce Turkey's strategic energy vision up to 2040 to the public at a meeting to be held in Istanbul on November 5.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar will unveil Turkey's new energy vision on November 5, 2026, in Istanbul's Dolmabahçe.
The strategy, dubbed the 2040 vision, is built upon three main headings: demand, dependency, and decarbonization. Renewable energy, energy efficiency, nuclear energy, oil, natural gas, and minerals will be prioritized in the new energy architecture.
It is targeted that 70 percent of energy needs will be met from renewable sources by 2040, $20 billion will be invested in energy efficiency between 2024 and 2030, and new nuclear power plants will be established in Sinop and Thrace alongside Akkuyu. Additionally, while investments exceeding $80 billion in electricity transmission and distribution grids are planned until 2035, total investments in the energy and mining sectors are projected to exceed $300 billion. Institutions such as Turkish Petroleum, Eti Maden, BOTAŞ, EÜAŞ, and TEİAŞ are planned to be restructured into national champions.
