Heading to a World Series watch party? Make sure you have a sober ride home

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has warned Milwaukee Brewers fans to plan for a safe and sober ride home when gathering to watch World Series games.

According to data from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, there were 5,756 alcohol-related crashes in the state in 2025, resulting in 141 deaths and 2,724 injuries. During the same period, 1,655 drug-related crashes claimed 71 lives and left 1,011 people injured. Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) indicates that approximately one-third of all traffic accidents in the United States are alcohol-related.

The warning, issued in conjunction with the NHTSA's anti-drunk driving campaign coinciding with the Halloween season, emphasized that even being slightly impaired compromises driving safety. Officials recommend that fans who consume alcohol designate a driver, or use a taxi or public transportation. Additionally, the Wisconsin Tavern League's 'SafeRide' program provides free transportation support to individuals who have consumed alcohol at participating locations.
