Out of 547 suspects detained on charges of fraud, illegal betting, and child abuse during simultaneous cyber operations carried out across 61 provinces over the last five days under the coordination of the Ministry of Interior, 155 have been arrested.

Scope and Coordination of the Operation

In massive cyber operations covering 61 provinces across Turkey within the last five days, 155 of the 547 suspects detained on charges of fraud, illegal betting, and child abuse were arrested.

According to data shared by the Ministry of Interior, extensive measures were taken under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security's Department of Cyber Crimes, MASAK, and Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices.

Fraud Network via Social Media

Technical tracking and investigations conducted by security forces revealed how cyber fraudsters turned social media platforms into a trap.

The suspects lured victims into their traps by organizing deceptive and attractive campaigns, particularly involving house, car, and land sale prices as well as promotional payments.

Heavy Blow to Illegal Betting and Abuse

Cyber police did not only target fraud networks; the operations were expanded to include those operating illegal betting and child abusers.

During home and workplace raids, individuals holding explicit child images and networks organizing illegal betting and gambling activities were dismantled.

Judicial Process and Arrests

The statement procedures at the police station for the 547 suspects detained as a result of the operations were completed, and they were brought before a judge.

The court arrested 155 of the suspects, while ruling for judicial control conditions to be applied to 183 individuals.
