74 Suspects Apprehended in Ankara-Based Social Media Operation
In an Ankara-based operation, 74 out of 114 individuals identified as promoting next-generation criminal organizations on social media platforms were detained.
Within the framework of an investigation coordinated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, detention orders were issued for 114 suspects identified as propagating next-generation criminal organizations via social media, 74 of whom were apprehended by security forces.
Scope of the Investigation and Detention Orders
Under the coordination of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a comprehensive study targeting next-generation criminal organizations was carried out by the Ankara Provincial Police Department's Anti-Organized Crime Branch.
As a result of the examinations, a total of 114 suspects were identified who engaged in propaganda activities matching the modus operandi of criminal organizations on popular social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
Results of the Operation and Searches
Out of the 114 suspects for whom detention orders were issued by the Prosecutor's Office, 74 were apprehended and taken into custody through operations conducted.
During searches carried out by teams at the addresses of the suspects, a large number of unlicensed weapons, cutting tools, and narcotic substances were seized.
Seized Criminal Evidence
During the search and seizure operations conducted against the suspects, 9 handguns and magazines belonging to these handguns were found.
Additionally, 3 pump-action shotguns, 2 cutting tools known as machetes, and 45 narcotic pills were placed under custody at the addresses.
Ongoing Efforts
It was determined by official authorities that one of the suspects with a detention order is currently in prison.
It was reported that the investigation process aimed at apprehending the remaining fugitive suspects is being pursued thoroughly and versatilely by law enforcement forces.
