Artificial Intelligence Assistant Launched for Professional Licensing Processes in Tennessee
The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance has launched an AI-based chatbot named Iris to answer questions from licensed professionals.
The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance has officially launched an AI-powered chatbot named Iris to answer all regulatory questions from licensed professionals in the state twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
Key Features of the Iris Chatbot
Named after Tennessee's official flower, the AI assistant Iris is accessible via the department's CORE licensing system and the Division of Regulatory Boards website.
This newly deployed digital system is designed to meet users' information requests even outside of normal customer service operating hours.
Sectors and Individuals Served
This innovative AI-based service provides support to more than 357,000 license holders—including contractors, real estate agents, and motor vehicle dealers—under the division's twenty-six different regulatory programs.
Through this system, citizens and professionals can both learn licensing requirements and access detailed information regarding licensed individuals and businesses.
Security, Privacy, and Language Support
Able to provide services in both English and Spanish, Iris can access applications and files in the CORE database but strictly does not share this information externally due to personal data privacy rules.
In instances where the system falls short or complex situations arise, the AI directly directs users to a human representative and makes the necessary notification.
