Global Consultation Launched for Education and Governance in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
UNESCO has launched a wide-ranging global consultation process by publishing a new discussion paper to address the impacts of artificial intelligence on education.
UNESCO has prepared a new discussion document in response to the challenges and risks facing education systems amidst rapidly evolving technologies. With this global process running from September to November, AI governance in education is being opened up for discussion.

Many education systems are under intense pressure to adapt to rapidly changing technologies without adequate regulatory frameworks or institutional capacities.
Publication of the Discussion Paper
With the discussion paper published ahead of Digital Learning Week 2026, UNESCO positions education as a shared public good and addresses the risks that unregulated use of artificial intelligence may pose through a six-dimensional shift.
Global Consultation Process
Experts, academics, government officials, and relevant stakeholders are invited to the global consultation process, which will take place between September and November 2026.
Submission of Views
Participants can submit their evaluations and perspectives to aied@unesco.org, with the deadline for comments set for October 15, 2026.
Future Work and Policy Briefs
The collected feedback will contribute to the development of a compilation of policy briefs to be published during Digital Learning Week 2027.
