Artificial intelligence firm Anthropic has leased 24,000 square feet of new office space in Kendall Square, Cambridge, to position itself close to academic and industry research.

Details of the New Office Lease

Artificial intelligence company Anthropic announced on Tuesday that it has leased 24,000 square feet of office space in Kendall Square to expand its presence in the Cambridge area.

The long-term lease agreement covers two floors of the One Kendall Square mixed-use office and laboratory complex, and the new facility will house 120 workstations.

Team Growth and Relocation Plan

The new office space will allow the company to more than double and develop its existing local team of 50 people currently working in a coworking facility in Central Square.

Anthropic plans to move into the new office space early next year, and with this move, the company aims to increase its operational capacity in the region.

Closer Proximity to the Research Ecosystem

The company's joining Kendall Square's innovation ecosystem aligns with Massachusetts Governor Maura T. Healey's efforts to make the Boston area a hub for artificial intelligence research.

Anthropic President and Co-Founder Daniela Amodei emphasized that Cambridge's existing technology and life sciences research network was a primary target for the company's expansion move.
