Artificial intelligence experts warn of rapid development and risks
Experts from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google DeepMind have drawn attention to the dangers brought by the uncontrolled growth of artificial intelligence, calling for the process to be slowed down.
Experts currently or previously employed by Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google DeepMind have emphasized that the rapid development of artificial intelligence poses serious risks for humanity, urging that the process be slowed down until adequate safety methods are found.
Resignations and Warnings from the Sector
Jacob Coxon, a former employee of Anthropic, announced that he resigned from his position over warnings that artificial intelligence could turn into superhuman systems. Following Coxon's post, various other figures in the sector also voiced their concerns on social media.
Commercial Competition and Security Concerns
Samuel Marks, an employee at Anthropic, stated that although developers are aware of the risks of this technology, the work continues due to commercial incentives and the race against competitors. Marks expressed that, unlike traditional software, artificial intelligence cannot be made fully aligned.
Views of OpenAI and DeepMind Experts
Jakub Pachocki, Chief Scientist at OpenAI, stated that no one is prepared for the consequences of the rapid increase in machine intelligence, noting that more comprehensive measures are necessary. Former DeepMind employee Alex Turner also supported Jacob Coxon's posts.
Call for International Coordination
Jason Wolfe, an OpenAI researcher, emphasized that a single company or country cannot produce a solution against the increase in artificial intelligence capacity, and that global-level coordination must be established to overcome this issue.
