Demonstrators gathered at the opening of OpenAI's annual DevDay event in San Francisco to protest the company's military and government agency contracts, along with the environmental impact of its data centers.

Protest Outside the DevDay Event

At the start of OpenAI's annual DevDay event, flyers were distributed and chants were held outside the Fort Mason venue.

Supporting Organizations

The action was sponsored by more than a dozen organizations, including Bay Resistance, Tech Workers Coalition, Service Employees International Union, San Francisco Rising, and the San Francisco Labor Council.

Demonstrators called out to Sam Altman, urging him to put people before profits and demanding an end to ICE and military contracts.

The protests also targeted the concentration of power in the artificial intelligence sector, the lack of government regulation, and the environmental impact of data centers.
