Comprehensive Cultural Cooperation Steps Between Turkey and Uzbekistan
Ministers of the two countries met in Tashkent and signed new cooperation projects in the fields of shared heritage, cinema, and performing arts.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, who traveled to Tashkent on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence, met with Uzbekistan's Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov to take strategic steps that will strengthen cultural ties.
Bilateral Summit in Tashkent
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy held official talks in Tashkent within the scope of the celebrations for the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence. The joint cultural agenda of the two countries was discussed during the meeting held at the Islamic Civilization Center of Uzbekistan.
Cooperation Plan and Projects
During the meeting, the development of concrete projects within the framework of the 2026-2027 Cultural Cooperation Plan was emphasized. Steps to be taken in the fields of preservation of shared cultural heritage, restoration, conservation, foundation works, and archaeology were evaluated.
Museum Studies and Performing Arts
The Archaeology Summer School and Night Museology model within the scope of the Taş Tepeler Project were discussed at the meeting. In addition, cooperation opportunities in the field of performing arts such as folk dances were expanded.
Cinema and Co-Productions
Among the cooperation topics in the field of cinema was the shooting process of the film "Heroes of Turkestan". Efforts regarding the Audiovisual Co-Production Agreement between the two countries were brought to the agenda.
Memorandum of Understanding Signed
Following the productive discussions, an official step was taken to consolidate institutional cooperation. A Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural Cooperation was signed between the General Directorate of Fine Arts and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Uzbekistan.
