Artist Karsu Receives Award for Contributions to Cultural Ties Between the Netherlands and the USA
Hatay-origin artist Karsu was honored with the 2026 NAF Adams van Berckel Award by the Netherland-America Foundation.
Artist Karsu, who blends her Hatay roots with Amsterdam's multicultural music scene and has signed successful international projects, has received the 2026 NAF Adams van Berckel Award for her contributions to cultural ties between the Netherlands and the United States.
Ceremony in Amsterdam and Presentation of the Award
The 2026 NAF Adams van Berckel Award, presented by the Netherland-America Foundation, was given to Karsu during the annual Transatlantic Dinner event held in Amsterdam.
Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and Prof. Mr. Pieter van Vollenhoven also attended the special program where the award ceremony took place.
Karsu and Netherland-America Foundation History
The relationship between artist Karsu and the New York-based Netherland-America Foundation dates back to previous years.
Karsu had been a guest performer at an NAF event held at The Plaza Hotel in New York in September 2023, delivering a special musical performance.
History and Purpose of the Award
The NAF Adams van Berckel Award takes its name from John Adams, the first ambassador of the United States, and Pieter Johan van Berckel, the first ambassador of the Netherlands.
This award aims to honor individuals who contribute to the development of friendship, cooperation, and cultural relations between both countries.
The Artist's Other Royal Honors
In addition to the NAF award, Karsu was knighted in May with the Order of Orange-Nassau awarded on behalf of the Dutch monarch.
Additionally, the artist was among the Freedom Ambassadors for the year 2026 within the scope of the Netherlands' Liberation Day.
