Local Flavors Introduced in Bodrum with the 'The Biggest Table Çorum' Event

Bringing Anatolia's deeply rooted gastronomic heritage to the Aegean coast, Hapimag Sea Garden Resort Bodrum hosted 'The Biggest Table Çorum' event on September 12 as part of the Çorum Flavor Festival.

Purpose and Location of the Event

Hapimag Sea Garden Resort Bodrum added a new one to the events it organizes to present local flavors unique to Turkey's geography to the appreciation of its guests.

With the Çorum Flavor Festival 'The Biggest Table Çorum' event held at the facility on September 12, Çorum's gastronomy and cultural heritage dating from the Hittites to the present day was introduced.

Gathering Realized with the Participation of Protocol

Many prominent figures attended the event, which brought Çorum's deeply rooted gastronomic heritage together with local and foreign guests in Bodrum.

The organization was hosted by Hapimag Southern Countries Holiday Villages Operations Director Kerem Demirkol and Folk Kitchens Researcher Adnan Şahin.

Protocol Names Met in Bodrum

Muğla Governor Dr. İdris Akbıyık, İzmir Deputy and former Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, and Bodrum District Governor Ali Sırmalı attended the event.

In addition, Çorum Mayor Dr. Halil İbrahim Aşgın, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras, and Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci took part in the program.

Evaluation by Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık

Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık emphasized that the province of Çorum is making great efforts and carrying out work regarding gastronomy.

Akbıyık stated that after Gaziantep, Hatay, and Afyonkarahisar, Çorum is about to become the fourth province nominated for gastronomy in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

Statements by Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu

Former Minister of Youth and Sports and AK Party İzmir Deputy Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu drew attention to the unifying power of gastronomy.

Stating that gastronomy, like sports, is a unifying force, Kasapoğlu expressed that Çorum has a very strong cuisine with its sırık kebab, İskilip dolması, and hundreds of flavors.

UNESCO Goal from the Mayor of Çorum

Çorum Mayor Dr. Halil İbrahim Aşgın said that they came to the world with Anatolia's ancient history, tradition, wisdom, and affection.

Aşgın noted that they want to write Çorum's name into the UNESCO Creative Cities Network with Kargı sırık kebab, İskilip dolması, white baklava, water pastry (su böreği), madımak, and çatal aş.

Views of Executives and Experts

Hapimag Southern Countries Holiday Villages Operations Director Kerem Demirkol stated that the event will contribute to Çorum's UNESCO journey.

Folk Kitchens Researcher Adnan Şahin, on the other hand, voiced that Çorum cuisine is an important memory carried from the Hittites to the present day.

Geographically Indicated Products Introduced

Within the scope of the event, geographically indicated flavors such as İskilip dolması, roasted chickpea (leblebi), and Kargı tulum cheese were introduced to the guests.
