New International Award for Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum
The museum located in Bayburt won the inaugural international Weiden Your Scope Award at a ceremony in Spain.
The Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum, operating in the village of Beşpınar in Bayburt, has been deemed worthy of the Weiden Your Scope Award, presented for the first time this year by the European Museum Academy.
Received Award at Ceremony in Spain
Dedicated to Dr. Wim van der Weiden, the founder and first president of the European Museum Academy, the award found its owners at a ceremony held in the Spanish city of Alicante.
Determined by the votes of one hundred museums from twenty-four different countries, this prestigious award was presented to the Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum.
Exemplary Leadership in Rural Areas
Established in the village of Beşpınar in Bayburt's Demirözü district, the museum has added a new achievement to its international successes.
Karl Borromäus Murr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the European Museum Academy, emphasized that the museum demonstrates exemplary leadership despite being located in a rural area.
An Award Dedicated to Culture
Founding Board Member Furkan Yavuz stated that the museum has won four international awards in five years and dedicated this success to those who keep Anatolian culture alive.
The museum, brought to life by businessman Kenan Yavuz, had also been deemed worthy of many important national and international awards in previous years.
