Prof. Dr. Zafer Toprak's Archive Opens for Examination at Metrohan

The archive of the late Prof. Dr. Zafer Toprak, who shaped historiography in Turkey, is being opened by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality at the Center for Republican History Researches in Metrohan, followed by a comprehensive commemorative conference.

Archive Opening Process

Donated to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality by the family of Prof. Dr. Zafer Toprak, his archive and personal belongings were prepared at the Center for Republican History Researches in Metrohan in a manner befitting his scientific accumulation.

The opening of this important center, which will keep the historian's memory alive, was carried out in accordance with the planned schedule and made available to researchers and history enthusiasts.

Commemorative Conference Program

Following the archive opening, the "A Life Dedicated to History: Commemorative Conference for Zafer Toprak" was organized in cooperation with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the History Foundation.

The event, attended by academic and cultural circles, addresses the historian's versatile academic studies and the rich legacy he left behind.

First Day Sessions

In the sessions held on the first day of the conference, topics such as Zafer Toprak's historiography in pursuit of documents, the Second Constitutional Era and the National Economy, and the anthropology of the Republic were discussed in detail.

Academics and researchers who are experts in their fields shared the perspectives the historian brought to the scientific world with the participants.

Second Day Sessions

On the continuing day of the event, headings such as labor in Turkey, class, social transformation, and the struggle for rights on the threshold of modernization were put under the microscope.

In the final session attended by his colleagues and students, the aspects of Zafer Toprak that left a mark as a teacher and colleague were discussed.
