The traditional Autumn Animal and Commodity Fair, commonly known as the Pavli Fair, opened its doors with an enthusiastic ceremony for the 116th time in Kırklareli's Pehlivanköy district. Citizens stay in tractor trailers at this deeply rooted event dating back to the Ottoman period.
Historic Fair Opens Its Doors
The Pavli Fair, one of Turkey's oldest events and now in its 116th edition, has started with a ceremony in Kırklareli's Pehlivanköy district. The opening ceremony of the organization, which will run from September 10 to September 13, took place at Zübeyde Hanım Square.
Protocol and Citizens Attended
The opening ceremony at Zübeyde Hanım Square was attended by Kırklareli Governor Uğur Turan, AK Party Kırklareli Deputy Ahmet Gökhan Sarıçam, Kırklareli Mayor Derya Bulut, Pehlivanköy Mayor Gündüz Hoşgör, other district mayors, and numerous citizens.
Started with Colorful Performances
The program began with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, followed by various performances by the mehter band, folk dance troupes, and marching bands.
Cultural Fabric Is Preserved
Pehlivanköy Mayor Gündüz Hoşgör stated that the fair is being passed down to future generations without losing its cultural texture and structure. AK Party Deputy Gökhan Sarıçam drew attention to the importance of keeping the culture alive.
Accommodation in Tractor Trailers
Visitors coming from all four corners of the region continue to stay in areas set up in the beds of tractors and pickup trucks that resemble home environments.

The event, which was initiated during the reign of Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II for livestock trading, offers trade and entertainment together today and will conclude on September 13.
