August inflation figures announced by TUIK and ENAG
The Turkish Statistical Institute and the Inflation Research Group have shared the consumer price index and annual increase rates for August with the public.
According to the August data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, annual inflation stood at 31.51 percent, while ENAG calculations put this rate at 49.03 percent.
TUIK Inflation Data
The Turkish Statistical Institute announced the results of the August consumer price index to the public. According to the statements made, consumer prices showed an increase of 1.84 percent compared to the previous month.
Annual and Monthly Changes
According to the released data, inflation recorded an increase of 31.51 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The change compared to December of the year was 22.07 percent, while the increase in 12-month averages was determined as 31.79 percent.
Status of Main Expenditure Groups
Annual increases in the main expenditure groups with the highest weight in TUIK data were also detailed. Increases of 33.79 percent in food and non-alcoholic beverages, 35.08 percent in transportation, and 39.77 percent in housing-related expenditures were observed.
ENAG Consumer Price Index
The Inflation Research Group also shared its own calculation results prior to the TUIK statement. According to ENAG data, the monthly increase was 2.24 percent, while the inflation increase rate for the last 12 months was 49.03 percent.
