New Increase in the Fuel Market: Price Hike Expected for Gasoline
Fuel prices are preparing to reflect successive price hikes in the first days of September. The liter price of gasoline is projected to increase by 2.47 TL.
Following successive increases on the agenda for fuel prices, a hike of 2.47 TL per liter is projected for gasoline. The expected price change is expected to be reflected at the pump starting Friday, September 4, 2026, at 00:01, while there is also an expectation of a massive increase of 8.24 lira for diesel.
Expected Increase in Gasoline Price
A new fuel development concerning vehicle owners took place in the first days of September. According to calculations made via the Tüpraş price formulation, an increase of 3.29 liras including VAT was projected for the liter price of gasoline. Following distribution and pump pricing processes, the net hike to be reflected to drivers is expected to be 2.47 TL per liter.
Date When the Hike Will Take Effect
If the expectation is finalized, the gasoline hike will be reflected in pump prices starting Friday, September 4, 2026, at 00:01. The price change does not yet constitute a finalized pump tariff. Final amounts may show minor differences depending on distribution companies, stations, and provinces.
Estimated Prices by City
If the 2.47 lira increase is fully reflected in current pump prices, the estimated liter prices of gasoline will change. The price is expected to rise to 76.82 TL on the European side of Istanbul and 76.68 TL on the Asian side of Istanbul. It is projected to reach 77.80 TL in Ankara and 78.09 TL in Izmir.
Massive Diesel Hike Expectation
The expectation of an increase in gasoline came right after the news that an 8.24 TL hike would be applied to the liter price of diesel. The diesel hike is also expected to be valid starting Friday, September 4, at 00:01. With this increase being reflected at the pump, the liter price of diesel will exceed 90 liras in Ankara and Izmir, and rise above 89 liras in Istanbul.
Determination of Fuel Prices
Gasoline and diesel prices in Turkey are calculated based on the average of refined product prices in the Mediterranean market and changes in the USD exchange rate. The final pump price is shaped by adding SCT and VAT, as well as the shares of distribution companies and stations, to the refinery price.
