Cevdet Yılmaz's Statements at the TİSK Summit and Economic Goals
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated at the TİSK summit that they aim to raise per capita income to 25,000 dollars and shared economic developments.
In his speech at the summit organized by TİSK, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz made important assessments regarding the fight against inflation, risk premium, earthquake expenditures, and growth forecasts.
Policies to Combat Inflation
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that the fight against inflation is not conducted solely through monetary policy, and that fiscal and supply-side policies are also being activated. In this context, he noted that efforts in the housing, food, and transportation sectors are continuing intensively.
Social Housing and Supply Measures
Stating that social housing programs are continuing with determination, Yılmaz announced that social housing appropriations in the budget were increased by 150 percent to 250 billion liras. On the food side, he noted that the resources allocated to irrigation investments have exceeded 100 billion liras.
Resilience to External Shocks and Reserves
Announcing that Turkey's country risk premium has dropped below 220 points, Yılmaz emphasized that the share of the Turkish lira in total deposits has risen to 61.5 percent. He pointed out that the Protected Currency-Converted Deposit mechanism has been phased out with a smooth transition.
Efforts in the Earthquake Region
Stating that earthquake expenditures will reach 104 billion dollars by the end of the year, Yılmaz expressed that approximately 455,000 houses have been built in the last three years and 11 cities have been revived.
Growth and Future Period Expectations
Yılmaz added that the growth forecast for 2026 has been set at 3.3 percent, and this rate is expected to rise to 4.2 percent in 2027.
