Massive Facility Investment in Pennsylvania
Chobani announced that it will establish a new production and logistics facility with an investment of approximately $1.2 billion in Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA. Spanning approximately 140,000 square meters and planned for realization over the next five years, the facility will serve as a strategic hub for the production of the company's next-generation food and beverage products.
Strategic Partnership with Keurig Dr Pepper
As part of its expanded cooperation with Keurig Dr Pepper, the company will take over KDP's existing production facility, storage areas, equipment, and infrastructure in Allentown. With the agreement, operations will transition to Chobani, while KDP's shares in Chobani will be bought back and the distribution partnership between the two companies will expand.
Strategic Location and Production Capacity
The facility in Allentown is located within about 800 kilometers of roughly 40 percent of the U.S. population. Thanks to 10 separate production lines envisioned for the facility, the company aims to develop new dairy products featuring high protein and low sugar compared to traditional milk.
Employment and Regional Milk Supply
The investment is projected to create over 900 jobs in the region. Furthermore, once the facility reaches full capacity, it is planned to source over 1.36 billion liters of milk annually from Pennsylvania.
