Economic Confidence Index in Turkey Reaches Three-Year High in September 2026
According to TURKSTAT data, the economic confidence index increased by 0.7 percent in September, reaching its highest value since June 2023.
According to data shared by the Turkish Statistical Institute for the September 2026 period, the economic confidence index rose by 0.7 percent on a monthly basis to reach 101.3, recording its highest level in the last three years.
Changes in the Index in September
The Turkish Statistical Institute released the economic confidence index data for the September 2026 period to the public. Accordingly, the index, which was 100.6 in August, recorded an increase of 0.7 percent in September.
As a result of this increase, calculated using seasonally adjusted data, the economic confidence index rose to 101.3, reaching the highest value seen since June 2023.
Meaning of Index Values
According to the released data, an economic confidence index above the threshold of 100 indicates optimism regarding the general economic situation. Results below the 100 mark, on the other hand, point to pessimism.
Consumer and Real Sector Data
Compared to the previous month, the consumer confidence index increased by 1.3 percent in September, recording a value of 91.9. In August, the consumer confidence index was at 90.8.
The real sector confidence index rose to 102.5 with a limited increase of 0.1 percent.
Latest Status in Sectoral Confidence Indices
The services sector confidence index remained unchanged in September, staying steady at a value of 111.9.
The retail trade sector confidence index rose from 110.1 to 111.3, marking a 1.1 percent increase.
Limited Decline in Construction Sector
The construction sector confidence index experienced a decline of 0.2 percent in September, dropping to 83.0. In August, the respective index stood at 83.1.
Future Expectations
While increases were observed in consumer, real sector, and retail trade confidence in September, a decrease was recorded in the construction sector. TURKSTAT is expected to publish its next bulletin on October 30, 2026.
