The euro area June unemployment rate, previously announced as 6.3%, was revised to 6.4%, while the EU unemployment rate was revised from 6% to 6.1%.
Annual Comparison Table
According to the comparisons made, the unemployment rate in July of the previous year stood at 6.3% in the euro area and 6% in the European Union.
Unemployment Rates by Country
Looking at member states on a country basis in July, the unemployment rate was measured at 10.5% in Finland.
In the same period, the unemployment rate was 10% in Spain, 8.7% in Sweden, 8.3% in France, and 7.9% in Greece.
Total Number of Unemployed
The total number of unemployed people across the European Union was calculated at 13 million 516 thousand in July.
Official records showed that 11 million 264 thousand of these individuals were located in the euro area.
Youth Unemployment Data
In July, the number of unemployed youth under the age of 25 was determined to be 2 million 930 thousand in the European Union and 2 million 371 thousand in the euro area.
The youth unemployment rate in the EU decreased from 15.6% in June to 15.1% in July.
In the euro area, the youth unemployment rate also dropped from 15% to 14.9%.
