The approximately 12.48 lira SCT increase on gasoline, which came to the agenda with the end of the sliding scale system and raised inflation concerns, was made gradual by being spread over a three-month period through a Presidential decree published in the Official Gazette.

Gradual SCT Regulation

With the end of the sliding scale system on gasoline as of October 1, an increase of approximately 12.48 liras due to SCT was expected. Following discussions regarding the negative impacts of this situation on inflation, a new Presidential decree was published in the Official Gazette.

First Impact Reflected on Prices

Thanks to the gradual implementation, the initial increase resulting from SCT and VAT on gasoline remained at the level of 4.27 liras for now. With this method, the impact of a massive price hike all at once was mitigated.

SCT Increase Schedule

Within the scope of the gradual transition planning, it was stated that increases will continue in November and December. Accordingly, the SCT on gasoline will be applied as 7.90 liras throughout October.
