Harvest Season Begins for Tufanbeyli Thin-Skinned White Beans

The harvest season has begun for Tufanbeyli thin-skinned white beans, which were registered with a geographical indication by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. Heading to the fields in the early hours of the morning, producers set out to gather the crops that matured across vast lands.

Harvest Work Has Begun

While dry bean cultivation, which has continued for years in Tufanbeyli, persists this year as well, producers and agricultural workers arriving at the fields in the early morning hours began pulling up and gathering the matured beans along with their roots.

Harvest operations carried out in the vast agricultural lands of Pınarlar Neighborhood, a significant agricultural region, were also captured from the air by drones.

Production Process and Stages

The products, planted in May, reached harvest maturity following maintenance and irrigation processes carried out throughout the season.

The harvested beans are passed through a threshing machine after the drying process to separate them from their pods and make them ready for sale.

Climate Advantage and Natural Methods

Stating that the region's climatic conditions are advantageous in terms of bean production, producers expressed satisfaction with the development of the crops, which favor cool and windy weather.

It was noted that chemical fertilizers and pesticides are not used in production, and the products are grown using entirely natural production methods.

Market Price and Sales Channels

Tufanbeyli's geographically indicated thin-skinned white beans find buyers in the field at prices ranging between 100 and 125 TL.

Producers utilize the internet and social media channels to deliver products such as beans and chickpeas they obtain to consumers in different provinces.
