Jak Eskinazi: Success cannot be measured solely by inflation decline

While a disinflation process is underway in the Turkish economy, Pergamon Status Chairman of the Board Jak Eskinazi stated that success should not be limited solely to the drop in inflation. Eskinazi expressed that high financing costs are delaying investments and that a new growth model focused on qualified human capital and technology is needed instead of cheap labor.

While the disinflation process continues in the Turkish economy, how to preserve production power alongside price stability is gaining increasing importance. High financing costs make it difficult, especially for SMEs, to access working capital and the resources necessary for investments.

Industrial Structure and Investment Environment

Pergamon Status Chairman of the Board Jak Eskinazi stated that the success of economic policies should be measured not only by the decline in inflation, but also by the industrial structure, investment environment, and competitiveness. Emphasizing that the company with access to finance is not always the most efficient company, Eskinazi stated that healthy businesses must not be lost due to temporary cash flow problems.

Delayed Investments and Export Risk

Pointing out that high financing costs are delaying investments, Eskinazi noted that an investment postponed today means tomorrow's lost exports. It was stated that Turkey needs to compete through qualified human capital, high value-added products, technology, and branding instead of cheap labor and exchange rate advantages.

Strategic Areas and Focus Strategy

Pointing to areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, biotechnology, health and energy technologies, chemistry, machinery, and robotics, Eskinazi stated that Turkey does not have to be a leader in every field. It was emphasized that if a few strategic areas are supported decisively for many years, world-class players can be produced.
