The rise of global oil prices due to geopolitical tensions has reinforced expectations of a new jump in fuel costs in Turkey. The rise in Brent crude points to the agenda of new hikes in gasoline and diesel prices.

Rate and Timing of the Expected Hike

According to information obtained from industry sources, a price increase of 8.24 TL is expected on the liter price of diesel. The price hike is projected to be reflected at the pump prices on the night connecting Thursday, September 3, to Friday, September 4.

Amount to be Reflected on Tank Costs

This expected hike means an increase of approximately 10 percent in the diesel liter price in a single night. If the 8.24 TL hike is reflected at the pump, the filling cost of a 50-liter vehicle tank will increase by 412 TL.

New Price Levels in Metropolitan Cities

Following the expected hike, the liter price of diesel is expected to reach 89.38 TL on the European Side of Istanbul and 89.28 TL on the Asian Side of Istanbul. In Ankara and İzmir, the diesel liter price is estimated to exceed the 90 TL threshold, rising to 90.73 TL and 90.71 TL, respectively.
