Preliminary Injunction from the Court
US District Judge Deborah Boardman, serving in Greenbelt, Maryland, issued a preliminary injunction upon the request of immigrant rights advocates.
In line with this decision, the implementation of the controversial directive enacted by the administration has been suspended, and the legal process is ongoing.
Supreme Court Ruling and New Step
The US Supreme Court had previously rejected such an effort, ruling that a prior attempt violated the citizenship provision of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.
Following this ruling, President Donald Trump signed a new decree specifically targeting birth tourism and the children of foreign government employees.
