Van Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Necdet Takva made evaluations regarding the city's economic future, stating that the Van-Şırnak-Habur route is their red line.

Economic Developments and Businesses

It was stated that despite the closure of some businesses in the Van industrial zone, the number of newly opened businesses has exceeded the number of closed ones each year in recent years. It was noted that economic problems have persisted for about five years and progress remains slow under government policies.

Armenia Visit and Criticisms

It was explained that the expenses for the 84-person trip to Armenia were not covered by the chamber budget as commonly believed, and most of the participants were invitees. It was emphasized that the efforts are carried out on a voluntary basis with the aim of building a trade bridge between Van and Yerevan.

Increase in Chamber Membership

It was stated that the number of members of the Van Chamber of Commerce and Industry has increased from approximately 13,000 to 24,000 over the past decade. It was noted that the city has growth potential in the fields of industry and trade, and efforts are being made to pave the way for new investments.

Border Gates and Strategic Route

It was conveyed that efforts are ongoing to open new border crossings with Iran alongside the Kapıköy Border Gate, and they are expected to open within four to five months. It was reiterated that connecting Van to Habur via Şırnak is a priority and this route is seen as a red line.

Chamber Elections Process

It was reported that Van TSO elections are foreseen to be held between October and November according to the calendar of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, while the official calendar has not yet been announced. It was stated that the management team will continue its work focused on foreign relations and economic development.
