Share of wind and solar energy in Turkey's electricity generation increased over a decade
Following the National Energy and Mining Policy, the share of wind and solar energy in total electricity installed capacity and generation has increased significantly.
The share of solar and wind energy in Turkey's electricity generation has multiplied with investments made over the last 10 years, reaching a total installed capacity of 42,865 megawatts as of July 2026 data.

The share of solar and wind energy in Turkey's electricity generation recorded a significant increase over the past 10-year period.
According to July 2026 data, the share of solar energy reached 11.6 percent, while the share of wind energy reached 12.1 percent.
National Energy Policy
According to the statement made by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, renewable energy investments gained momentum with the National Energy and Mining Policy implemented in 2016.
Thanks to this policy, the share of solar energy in generation increased by 28 times, and the share of wind energy increased by 1.1 times.
Installed Capacity Distribution
As of the end of July 2026, Turkey's total electricity installed capacity rose to 126,476 megawatts.
During this period, solar energy installed capacity accounted for a 21.7 percent share with 27,507 megawatts, while wind energy reached a 12.1 percent share with 15,358 megawatts.
Generation Record
Electricity generation from solar energy saw its peak in July following the record broken in June.
In July, generation from solar energy reached an all-time high on a monthly basis with 5.37 billion kilowatt-hours.
Ministry Statements
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar emphasized that a major transformation has been achieved in energy over the last 10 years.
Bayraktar stated that the success achieved will be carried to a further level with the new targets to be determined at COP31 to be held in Antalya.
