Tax Audit Rates Increased for High-Income Taxpayers

The Tax Inspection Board has raised the audit rate for large-scale and high-income taxpayers to 31.3 percent.

Audit Rate for Large-Scale Taxpayers

As a result of its work carried out this year, the Tax Inspection Board increased the audit rate for large-scale taxpayers to 31.3%. Audits focusing on high-income individuals were intensified in this segment.

Tax Audits Across Different Scales

Within the scope of the ongoing efforts, 31.3% of large-scale taxpayers were subjected to audits, while this rate stood at 7.3% for medium-scale taxpayers and 1.1% for small-scale taxpayers.

Details of the Monitoring and Compliance Program

The Tax Inspection Board launched the 2nd High-Income Groups Monitoring and Compliance Program to ensure that high-income taxpayers accurately declare their earnings. The tax base increased under the program reached 48.7 billion liras.

First-Time Filers

The total number of taxpayers under monitoring reached 16,307 individuals. It was determined that approximately 7,000 taxpayers had never filed a return in past periods, and they were enabled to submit tax returns for the first time.

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated that they directed audit capacity toward large-scale and high-income groups in order to increase tax justice, inviting this segment to voluntary compliance with taxes.
