Turkey's September Exports Reach $26 Billion, Breaking Records
With September exports hitting $26 billion, the Medium-Term Program target was reached 3 months before the end of the year.
Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced that exports in September increased by 15.4 percent year-on-year to reach $26 billion, and the 2026 Medium-Term Program target was surpassed 3 months in advance.
Record Export Figure in September
While exports reached $26 billion with a 15.4 percent increase on an annual basis, the highest September export record was broken, making this figure the second-highest monthly amount in the history of the Republic.
January-September Period Total
Total exports in the January-September period recorded a 5.2 percent increase, reaching the level of $211 billion.
Medium-Term Program Target Surpassed
The annualized total merchandise export figure in September rose to $283.7 billion, leaving the 2026 Medium-Term Program target of $282 billion behind with 3 months remaining in the year.
Services and Technology Exports
As of September, the annualized services exports for the last 12 months rose to $125.4 billion, while the total of goods and services exports reached $409.1 billion. Medium and high-tech product exports broke an all-time record at $117.6 billion.
Ministers' Foreign Trade Assessment
Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek stated that despite imports rising due to the impact of commodity prices, the increase in the foreign trade deficit remained more limited than anticipated. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that the strong export performance contributed to preserving the gains in external balance.
Sectoral and Country-Based Distribution
TIM President Gültepe reported that the automotive sector maintained its leadership in September with $3.9 billion, and the countries to which the most exports were made were Germany, the USA, and the United Kingdom.
