According to official data announced at the Turkey Health Summit, the annual number of physician applications per capita in the country rose to 13.2 in 2025, placing Turkey second in the world after South Korea.

Healthcare Application Figures

In 2025, a total of 1 billion 138 million 60 thousand 185 healthcare applications were made across Turkey.

This massive figure enabled the average annual number of physician applications per capita in the country to reach the level of 13.2.

International Comparisons

The average annual physician applications per capita in OECD countries hovers around 6.5.

While Turkey became the second country in the world with the highest number of physician applications after South Korea, Japan ranked third on the list.

Distribution by Levels

Chest Diseases Specialist Prof. Dr. Şevket Özkaya stated that physician applications at the primary care level average 5.5 per year.

It was announced that this average is realized at the level of 7.7 per year in secondary and tertiary health institutions.

Status of Emergency Services

It was clearly seen that emergency services ranked first in the distribution of physician applications by departments.

Emergency Medicine took the top spot with a rate of 26 percent, followed by Internal Medicine with 9 percent and Pediatrics with 6 percent.

Preventive Health Services

Experts emphasize that more effective use of primary healthcare services could alleviate the pressure on hospitals.

On the other hand, the information was shared that the maternal mortality rate dropped from 100 per 100,000 live births in 1990 to 11 last year.
