US Department of the Treasury Imposes Sanctions on Iran's Global Shadow Financing Network
The US Department of the Treasury has added individuals and entities involved in Iran's global financing network to the sanctions list as part of Operation Economic Exclusion.
As part of Operation Economic Exclusion, the US Department of the Treasury has added numerous individuals and entities providing financial support to Iran and spreading across countries such as Iraq, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey to the sanctions list.
Operation Economic Exclusion
The US Department of the Treasury announced that it has taken action against networks enabling Iran's activities in the Middle East through terrorist proxies.
This step, implemented by the Office of Foreign Assets Control, targeted structures supporting Kata'ib Hezbollah and Lebanese Hezbollah.
Countries on the Sanctions List
It was officially announced that the individuals and entities added to the sanctions list are spread across Iraq, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey.
It was stated that these networks lay the groundwork for Iran's destabilizing activities in the region and target the most dangerous proxy elements.
Front Companies and Couriers
The sanctions within this scope cover Kata'ib Hezbollah commanders and Iranian-backed elements infiltrated into the Popular Mobilization Forces.
Additionally, front companies and currency exchange offices supplying ammunition to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force are also on the list.
Statements by Minister Scott Bessent
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent emphasized that the operation directly targets focal points continuing to side with Iran.
Bessent stated that those who finance terror and attempt to evade sanctions will have their ties to the US financial system severed.
