Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that İslam Yakut, the leader of an international drug trafficking criminal organization who had been a fugitive since 2017, was captured in a successful operation organized in Sarıyer, Istanbul.

İslam Yakut, the leader of the criminal organization engaging in international drug trafficking, was apprehended in a raid conducted on an address in Sarıyer, Istanbul.

Joint Institutional Effort

The operation in question was carried out jointly by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the Istanbul Police Department, the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), and the Counter-Narcotics Department.

Fake ID and Connections

While a fake international identification document issued in the name of D.G. was seized at the suspect's hideout, it was determined that Yakut was connected to a total of 2 tons of drugs seized in Turkey and Europe.

Organization's Activities and Liquidation

It was determined that İslam Yakut managed his organization through encrypted communication systems, organizing heroin shipments from Iran and Afghanistan to Europe and synthetic drug shipments from Europe to Turkey. With the operations in 2024 and the capture of Yakut, the organization was completely neutralized.
