Weekly Increase in the Banking Sector's Total Deposits

In the week ending September 18, the total deposits of the banking sector increased by billions of liras, exceeding 33 trillion liras.

According to the weekly money and bank statistics of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, the total deposits of the banking sector recorded a significant increase in the week ending September 18.

Details of the Total Deposit Increase

The total deposits of the banking sector recorded an increase of 434 billion 877 million liras in the week ending September 18 compared to the previous week.

With this increase, the total deposit amount in the sector rose to 33 trillion 891 billion 793 million liras.

Turkish Lira and Foreign Currency Deposits

In the same period, Turkish Lira-denominated deposits in banks reached 18 trillion 510 billion 543 million liras with an increase of 1.09 percent.

Foreign currency-denominated deposits showed an increase of 1.57 percent, rising to 11 trillion 196 billion 301 million liras.

Foreign Exchange Deposits and Domestic Residents

The total foreign currency deposits in banks materialized at the level of 269 billion 568 million dollars last week.

Of this amount, 230 billion 797 million dollars were accumulated in the accounts of residents within the country.

Parity Effect and Consumer Loans

When considering the data adjusted for the parity effect in the total foreign currency deposits of domestic residents, an increase of 3 billion 30 million dollars was observed.

Conversely, a decrease was experienced in the consumer loans of domestic residents.
