Weekly increase recorded in the total deposit volume of the banking sector
Financial data for the last week of August was released, showing an increase in the total amount of funds accumulated in banks.
According to data from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, the total deposits of the banking sector increased by 0.21 percent in the week ending August 28.
Total Deposit Increase
Weekly money and banking statistics announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey revealed the growth trend across the sector. Accordingly, the total deposits of the banking sector experienced an increase of 0.21 percent in the week ending August 28.
Turkish Lira and Foreign Currency Deposits
During the same period, Turkish lira-denominated deposits in banks increased by 0.98 percent, while foreign currency-denominated deposits recorded a decrease of 0.75 percent. Based on data adjusted for parity effects, a decline was observed in the total foreign currency deposits of domestic residents.
Change in Consumer Loans
Consumer loans of domestic residents in the banking sector increased by 1.87 percent during the specified past week. The distribution of these loans included housing, vehicle, and general-purpose loans, as well as individual credit cards.
Developments in Total Loan Volume
The total loan volume of the banking sector, calculated including the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, increased by a significant amount in the week ending August 28. With this increase, an upward momentum was recorded in the total loan volume.
