Operations against new-generation criminal organizations in 48 provinces across Turkey
Legal proceedings have been initiated against over a thousand individuals in large-scale operations carried out under the coordination of security and intelligence units.
It has been announced that detention warrants were issued for 1,008 suspects in simultaneous operations targeting new-generation criminal organizations across 48 provinces, coordinated by the Ministry of Interior.
Details of the Operation and Detention Warrants
According to the official announcement made by the Ministry of Interior, operations were carried out against new-generation criminal organizations in 48 provinces nationwide.
It was reported that detention warrants were issued for a total of 1,008 suspects within the framework of the comprehensive operations launched this morning.
Inter-Agency Coordination and Efforts
Implemented upon the instructions of Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi, the operations were conducted under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security's KOM (Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime) Department and Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices.
During the process, the National Intelligence Organization (MİT), the General Directorate of Security Intelligence Department, and the Cyber Crimes Department carried out joint efforts.
Identified Activities of the Suspects
It was determined that the apprehended suspects engaged in activities to procure hitmen via communication platforms.
Additionally, it was established that they made posts on social media containing praise of crime and criminals, threats, insults, and organizational propaganda.
Use of Social Media for Criminal Purposes
Investigation findings included the fact that hostility and rivalry between criminal organizations were carried over to social media platforms.
It was ascertained that the suspects attempted to create the perception that criminal activities are normal and to recruit new members to the organization using social media.
Message of Resolve from Minister Çiftçi
In his statement regarding the operations, Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi emphasized that the accounts of those who consider social media to be the showcase of crime will be dismantled.
He stated that no room will be left whatsoever for individuals trying to poison young people and encourage crime.
