Comprehensive Implementation of Free Health Checks for Citizens
The Prime Minister's Office has issued instructions to ensure that the large-scale free health checks starting in 2026 reach the right priority groups while avoiding waste.
In accordance with Politburo resolutions and Prime Ministerial directives, efforts have been intensified to implement free health screenings for citizens in a comprehensive, effective manner targeting the correct groups.
Implementation Process and Current Status
Pursuant to the Politburo's Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW and the Prime Minister's Directive No. 17/CT-TTg, ministries and local governments are organizing health measures. While the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance have issued guidelines, implementation progress varies among regions.
2026 Targets and Responsibilities
The year 2026 marks the first year of implementing the policy for widespread free routine health checks for the general public, and time is running short. The People's Committee in each province or city bears full responsibility for the outcomes of the health check program within its region.
Priority Groups and Efficiency
Priority must be given to the elderly, people with disabilities, poor households, and those with chronic illnesses, ensuring the program does not spread too thin or chase metrics. Database integration aims to prevent duplicate procedures and waste.
