Healthcare Workers Protest in Al-Hasakah Over Unpaid Salaries: 'No Bread Left in Our Homes'

Healthcare workers employed by the Syrian Ministry of Health at the National Hospital in Rojava's Al-Hasakah gathered to demonstrate after going three months without receiving their salaries.

Dozens of doctors, nurses, administrative staff, and anesthesia technicians gathered in front of the National Hospital in Rojava's Al-Hasakah to hold a protest over long-delayed salary payments.

Stating that they have not received any payments since joining the ministry, the participants demanded that their three months of accumulated salaries be paid to them as soon as possible.

Banners and Slogans Carried by Workers

The medical personnel participating in the demonstration carried numerous banners to voice the economic difficulties they are experiencing.

Among the expressions on the banners, slogans such as 'We want our salaries now, enough with the delays', 'Salaries are our right, not a favor', and '3 months of patience, there is no bread left in our homes' drew attention.

Services Continue Despite Harder Lives

Reading the press statement on behalf of the workers, anesthesia technician Remzi Hüseyin stated that they continue to treat patients despite the unpaid salaries and the rising cost of living.

Hüseyin expressed that they fulfill their humanitarian and professional duties completely, but they demand that all accumulated dues be paid as soon as possible without empty promises.

Demand for Protection of Rights and a Dignified Life

The statement emphasized that the ongoing crisis must not be repeated, while underlining their commitment to the responsibility of treating citizens.

Stating that this situation does not mean they will completely give up the rights of themselves and their families, the healthcare workers expressed that they want a dignified life for their families.
