Major Grievance Among Healthcare Workers Regarding Cooperative Membership in Bursa
Approximately 260 healthcare workers in Bursa, who dreamed of owning a home, suffered a loss of 15 million liras per person due to the same housing units being sold to multiple people and a lack of sufficient apartments.
Around 260 healthcare workers in Bursa, who made payments to a housing cooperative for years with the hope of becoming homeowners, have experienced a major grievance because the same apartments were sold to multiple individuals and there were not enough residences.
Cooperative Process and Expectations
Healthcare workers had become members of the cooperative in 2016, completed their advance payments, and expected to move into their homes in 2018 and 2019.
However, the project could not be completed for various reasons, and the members continued to wait for years with the dream of owning a home.
Shortage of Apartments Revealed
In 2023, 260 members visiting the project site experienced great joy as they toured the apartments shown to them along with their families.
In April, however, the reality came to light that there were only around 100 apartments in the area, while the number of members stood at 260.
Significant Financial Loss Per Person
The new Head of the Cooperative, Kadir Büyükaçıkgöz, stated that sufficient land had not been purchased for the remaining members and that serious irregularities had been committed in the project.
As a result of these developments, it was stated that each healthcare worker currently faces a loss of approximately 15 million liras.
Suspicious Money Transfers and Allegations
It was claimed that individuals who were not cooperative members also made payments to purchase housing in the same area and that these funds were transferred to third parties.
Following the change in management, examinations conducted revealed allegations that certain payments were sent to the accounts of managers' family members.
Legal Process Initiated
Having bank accounts and past money transactions examined, the new management handed the obtained documents over to a lawyer and initiated legal proceedings.
It was reported that investigations concerning the former management, cooperative officials, and the construction company are ongoing.
