Regional ASKOM Meeting Held in Kahramanmaraş
Health executives gathered under the coordination of Gaziantep to discuss emergency services and patient referral processes.
The 8th Region Provinces 20th Emergency Health Services Coordination Commission Meeting, organized to strengthen regional cooperation in emergency health services, was held in Kahramanmaraş.
Participants and Purpose of the Meeting
Led by Gaziantep, the regional coordinator province, the meeting was attended by provincial health directors and relevant health executives from Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, and Kilis.
Health Issues Addressed
Chaired by Gaziantep Provincial Health Director Dr. Beytullah Şahin, the commission evaluated the operations of 112 Emergency Health Services stations, inter-hospital patient referral mechanisms, and the current capacity of health facilities.
50 Percent Decrease in Patient Referrals
Gaziantep Provincial Health Director Dr. Beytullah Şahin pointed out that thanks to the investments made, a 50 percent decrease was recorded in patient referrals from neighboring provinces to outside the region compared to last year.
2026 Case Transport Data
It was announced that approximately 40 percent of the 353,000 case transports that took place in the region in the first 8 months of 2026 occurred in Gaziantep, and 56 percent of the patient referrals in the region were made to this province.
