Privacy and the Presumption of Innocence

Saadet Party Chairman Mahmut Arıkan reacted via social media to the distribution of intimate footage recorded during operations to media and social media accounts.

Arıkan stated that this approach, which tramples upon the presumption of innocence and the privacy of private life, is in no way compatible with justice, morality, conscience, and law.

Call for Responsibility to Authorities

Stating that the relevant ministries and authorized institutions cannot step aside and evade responsibility by saying 'We did not leak it,' Arıkan emphasized that the process must be clarified.

He raised questions regarding who filmed the footage, with what authority it was leaked, and through which channels it was transferred to media outlets.

Demand for an Independent Investigation

Reminding that violating the confidentiality of an investigation constitutes a crime, Arıkan questioned whether any judicial and administrative proceedings have been initiated against those who committed this crime to date.

He demanded the immediate launch of a comprehensive investigation to identify the entire chain from the filming to the distribution of the footage, in order to re-establish state seriousness and dispel suspicions.
